• At Peppermint, we have chosen to incorporate Paulownia wood into the construction of our surfboards for the natural beauty of this noble material. But it is also a technical choice for its strength and ecological benefits, in line with our approach as eco-responsible artisans.

  • An environmentally friendly material

Paulownia wood stands out for its sustainable cultivation and low environmental impact. Unlike other types of wood that take decades to reach maturity, Paulownia is an extremely fast-growing tree, reaching adulthood in just 7 to 10 years. Its cultivation requires less water and pesticides compared to other species. This tree is also known for its ability to capture carbon dioxide, thereby helping reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

In terms of manufacturing, this lightweight yet strong wood allows us to reduce the use of resins and fiberglass derived from petrochemicals, thereby lowering the carbon footprint associated with the production of our boards.

  • Impressive strength

Beyond its ecological benefits, Paulownia wood is notable for its strength and durability. Although very lightweight – a major asset for performance – it is also highly resistant to impacts and bending. This allows our Paulownia surfboards to withstand strong forces, whether in powerful waves or during demanding maneuvers, while still providing enough flexibility for a smooth and fluid ride.

This natural toughness also helps extend the lifespan of our boards, allowing you to enjoy them longer. Compared to boards made from synthetic or more fragile materials, Paulownia offers an ideal balance between lightness, strength, and durability.

  • Natural aesthetic

In addition to its ecological and mechanical qualities, Paulownia wood adds a touch of authenticity and natural beauty to our surfboards. Each board is unique, and our finishing work highlights the tonal variations and raw beauty of the wood. With this Timber range, we have aimed for the most minimalist and environmentally friendly approach possible, trying to affirm our commitment to a more sustainable lifestyle
